What our staff are riding: Dannie's Bike Check

Mar 07, 2022Dannielle Watkinson

'I wanted something that was so pretty I'd find moral to do my training, even on rough days'

Dannie got her hands on a Project One Trek Madone SLR 7 for her racing, being part of an Elite race team was just one of the many excuses used to justify it to herself.

'I needed (wanted) something that was more in touch with the kind of racing I would be doing, something super aero yet still good at climbing, something that was responsive and stiff but still comfortable enough to spend six hours in the saddle. I also fell in love with the colour, it's pretty swanky and gives me extra morale to ride it. I've never had anything before where people would comment on how nice it is, it's a pretty good feeling.

I love getting on a bike that changes colour.

I'm very lucky, my partner is a mechanic so has my bikes on top form for racing - not so much for training... I tend to break derailleurs like they're going out of fashion, he now refuses to replace them and I just ride with limited gears. It does mean I have decent equipment, I personally don't know anything about bike mechanics or the best of the best equipment'
