Todd built up his Trek ALR 5 from the ruins of his crashed bike... Let’s hope this one doesn’t share the same fate...
“I chose the affordable, yet respectably lightweight, Emonda ALR frameset and built it up with a dependable Shimano 105 groupset and direct mount rim brakes that had survived from my old written off frame...
The frame’s geometry is built around Trek’s more relaxed H2 fit making it incredibly versatile for all types of road riding. It’s served me well as a reliable commuter bike; a spritely weekend machine for thrashing around the surrey hills and a long distance mile muncher for when I get dragged along on ultra-endurance monster rides.
It’ll be taking a punishing this coming spring when I load it up for a bikepacking trip around the highlands of Scotland, following the North Coast 500 route.“
