The Cervelo P5 is widely considered the benchmark against which current time trial bikes are measured. Canadian brand Cervelo was formed by Gerard Vrooment and Phil White as part of a master's thesis. Their goal was to create the ultimate aerodynamic bike and they pretty much invented the aero road bike segment. For general road use there are trade off in comfort, practicality and side wind performance but for time trialing it's all about reducing aerodynamic drag.
Completely hidden cables, custom brakes from Magura that blend seamlessly front and rear and, being hydraulic, aren't compromised by the complex routing needed to get a brake behind the bottom bracket. The UCI 3:1 rule restricts the shape of the fork that can be used in racing but for triathlon use Cervelo's fully aero fork is fitted. The Cervelo designed 3T bar/stem combo and aero matched stem stackers allow for a lot of fit customisation.
While a lot of time trail bikes end up looking ungainly the Cervelo is sculptural with the different sections flowing together and the frame working well as a whole.
